Deforestation in Brazil is well known across hundreds of nations all over the world. Deforestation in Brazil has been around for centuries and has a very important meaning in the lives of many. Rainforests have decreased in size primarily due to deforestation. “In 2002, the Amazon was approximately 5.4 million square kilometers, which is only 87 percent of the Amazon's original state” (Mongabay 1). Deforestationhas a negative effect in Brazilon climate change, animals and their habitats and erosion patterns, which is leading people to campaign for a deforestation free future.

Brazil once was an area full with an abundance of trees, today only six percent remains. “Deforestation is so dangerous because much of the carbon dioxide that all countries produce is turned into oxygen in the rainforests.” (Taylor 4).
